Dickhead runs in the blood of your kind. You are just the more tolerable one.

Friday, November 16, 2007

It was a dreary and miserable day today. But today was also the day where my bond with an ordinary friend reached a whole new level. It was where i saluted to the fact that this friendship we shared is so valuable, so much more than you have always assumed subconsciously. The second where you feel you have just gained another true friend that could last a lifetime, where you could say that you love this friend without restraint, an elevation from just another mediocre one.

A welcomed epiphany.

Lunch break and i was strolling around the city admiring beautiful watch pieces i could only hope to afford one phastasmal day. Walked past 2 muslim ladies having coffee draped in penguin attire with cigarettes between their fingers.

I just thought it looked odd.

Spring Races at Flemington

So this time round at the Melbourne Cup Spring Races i was invited by a good friend of mine for champagne and food on Stakes day. He is the owner of a couple of horses and has been hosting this social gathering for a few years in a row.

What a shame the weather this year was hot! I was not a punter as i am clueless on the horses and the best one to bet on. I had fun though!

PetroChina: The World's First $1 Trillion Company

By U.S. News & World Report

The meaning of the term "Big Oil" has changed overnight, as state-controlled PetroChina became the first company worth more than $1 trillion, tripling its value Monday in its debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and making it by far the largest company in the world.
Analysts are puzzling over whether this cash infusion will transform the energy scene and the role of China in the world economy or whether the Asian market is caught up in an irrational exuberance that will make the dot-com bubble seem small.

Just how big is PetroChina?

By market capitalization, it is now worth more than the two previous global corporate front-runners, ExxonMobil
and General Electric (GE) combined. A unit of the state-owned China National Petroleum, PetroChina is unquestionably China's biggest oil producer. But PetroChina makes only one-quarter of the revenue that Exxon rakes in, and it has slightly less in oil and gas reserves -- an important factor investors consider when they weigh an oil company's prospects. Significantly, though, PetroChina's reserves have been growing about 5% a year in recent years, outpacing those of Exxon and other oil giants.

The Corporate Games

So its 2-3 weeks until the Australian Corporate Games and i am still a far cry from fit. I shall be taking part in the swimming event with three other Accenture mates of mine representing Accenture. The good thing is all three of my team members were a part of some high swimming accolade in the past. One who represented Malaysia, one who competed in the Youth Olympics and another representing his school in Australia. And me? hahaha...

Well me, i can swim... of course i can! But the last time i tried traversing a 50m pool had me gasping for breath just halfway with cramps in my feet, not to mention a headache from all the effort. UNFIT! And here were my teammates organising a swimming strategy for me and a training program to get fit... Not at an amateur level, but at an intensity that runs hand in hand with their league! Essentially i was expected to do 2.5km at a single training. I have been coerced to wake up at 6am and to meet at 7 in the morning to train before going to work. Like crazy? Siao!

I am half kicking myself for giving up badminton for swimming. I would ace at badminton!

But it is a challenge and i am up for it. Besides, it felt good being back in a pool. I remember my primary school years back in Malaysia where i could swim a 100m long pool with areas as deep as 10m without much of a hassle. It really felt like swimming in a big lake. Those were my fit days... sigh.

Oh and i have to wear speedos.
